Pricing changed?

September 4, 2019 at 8:59pm
I signed up for a trial a few weeks ago. Before I sign up I make sure the pricing is viable for my purposes. I remember estimating that my monthly cost would be around $100. Now when I go to the pricing page it says "starting at $1,995".
Has the pricing changed THAT much recently? Did I really miss the $2k pricing the first time reading about Moltin? Or am I missing something completely? 😅

I think Moltin had absolutely lost the plot. It's not full featured or even finished in some areas.

I found that inventory transactions are not even connected to stock levels on the product object. Plus many more things that I've had to work around. I'm afraid the VCs are going to kill off Moltin at that price level. You're putting yourself up against the major players on the market and I'm afraid you'll lose. RIP Moltin.

No taxonomy, no decent payment options, no shipping, no way of searching products - all stuff that you have to code at the client side. The thing is full of bugs and very little features... What exactly is $2K a month for?

This experience has really made me reconsider using a third party service like this again to build a business on top of when the rug can be pulled from under you at ANY time like this. I've now rolled my own API solution and deployed with AWS and I'd suggest everyone else does the same.

Just came on here to look for information regarding what I thought was a typo on the pricing. Seems like it wasn't a typo!

Update for anyone following. I had a good chat with Greg and understood the motivations for the change, but having spoken to my client the task of stripping Moltin from my project begins. Good luck to anyone staying

Oh man, I feel for you. Think its terrible with what they have done, but I guess thats life. Any idea what you will be using now? For me, I'm taking advice and building my own API.

snipcart seems like a pretty good alternative

I will be building my own backend architecture and using Snipcart's basic 2% plan. That is if my client doesn't pull the plug completely because I'll miss the second deadline we were working to :(

What about the shopify buy SDK? I am considering it instead og Moltin https://shopify.github.io/js-buy-sdk/

Headless Magento is another option for more complex e-commerce solutions. Not only have we been greatly impacted and lost respect from our client on this, we too have experienced nothing short of a completely basic and feature incomplete system.
• No simple way to offer free shipping promotions • Migration SDK tools proved useless and incomplete, and we resorted to manually migrating data BY HAND - this took HOURS..

• Bugs with variations and child matrix • No ability to add more complex price bands for wholesale (e.g. price stipulations from multiple variants) • Bugs with inventory, items coming back as out-stock when they are clearly in stock • Extremely complex and un-usable child product UI

Super disappointed in your companies decision to get rid of scalable pricing. Whoever is in charge of this decision should be fired -- I want him to explain to the community who relied on Moltin for affordable E-Commerce solutions, why cutting out a majority of your unique marketshare to directly compete with companies like SAP and Salesforce makes any business sense. Really? An average 2000% - 5600% price increase unannounced? Wow. Genius. Nobody will notice... Cannot wait to see how much business this loses you. Your UI and software are not even close to worth the $200 / month you want to charge for grandfather plans either. Good luck, switching to Shopify. I'm sure lots will follow.

Seems people within the ranks have convinced investors/management that the Moltin product is far greater than what it actually is.
