Printing to Output is not working

June 21, 2021 at 9:42am
Hi guys, I have the following problem : when using the RUN button to run again my code of any of the previously submitted advanced exercises (1, 2, or 3) and also the fourth exercise not yet submitted (both Immediate and Advanced), printing to Output does not work. Even when I run the original code of execise 4 Advanced, which should print 'I love bats', it does not print anything. But if I try to test all these exercises using the TEST button, all of them pass the test OK. The only case when printing is working is when I plot the exercises 3 (both intermediate and advanced) using the PLOT button. Then together with plotting the picture it prints to Output what I want it to print. By the way when I run all these pieces of code in Python IDLE everything is printing OK. Now I am affraid to submit the fourth exercise when I cannot run it first. Can anyone help me ?

There was a bug which prevented printing. It's fixed now – please refresh the course page, it should reset the coding window and make it work again. Sorry about the trouble caused by the bug!
Thank You very much ! It is now printing OK.

Sanna, please, let me give you one more question. Now after the update the Submit button is missing. Before update I could use the Run button to check whether my code works correctly, then Test button to see if the code passes the test and only when both results were OK I pushed the Submit button to submit my solution. Now I can only use the Run button to check whether the code works fine and then when I press the Test button it is tested and immediately also submitted. What will happen when I press the Test button after running my code for Advanced exercise, which was working fine for me, but my solution was not the right one ? Will it be considered as fault and therefore I lose the possibility of passing the Advanced excercise OK ? Or can I modify the code and test it repeatedly as long as it is accepted ?

Yes, if the tests don't pass you'll be able to edit as much as needed! So click that button often. We have to fix the instructions in all exercises now that the submit button is gone – the idea here is that it will be more fluent for the students to have less buttons, and we can get rid of certain technical issues this way, too.
