Compact / List view for files

September 14, 2018 at 1:15pm

It would be neat to have an option to change view for files. Now they have quite big thumbnails, and it's difficult to find the right one, when there are a lot of them, especially when thumbnails look similar.

We quickly made some changes with DevTools in browser to show in these screenshots, what would be more handy for big teams with a lot of files in one project.

Thanks!

We use first page as a cover page for each file helps a lot

This is really cool. Would you be interested in getting these style changes and a thumbnail/list view toggle into a chrome extension?

Yes please... I don't care about the thumb, I care about the full filename. I cannot read it at the moment because of the Thumbnail style design. As a PM I also care about who worked in the file the most.

We could have made our own Chrome Extension, but our team prefers to work in desktop Figma App rather than in browsers, that's why we posted this feature request :)

Yeah, we use this trick from time to time, but compact view will be much more convenient for projects with a lot of files.

I've been doing this lately but I'd love to see an automated version of it honestly. Adding a cover page confuses people that aren't familiar with Figma.

It would also be nice to tag the item in the list so that we can accumulate metadata and allow better search options
