You can change the background to black/dark grey, hide the layer panel and what's left is just a little of the properties panel. If you want to go even further you can press F11 to go full screen.

I'm aware that the main UI is dark, and that the canvas color is selectable. What's nice about the Native implantation is that it is consistent among all my apps, and customized to the color of my system preferences and desktop wallpaper.

Figma is a webapp not a native app.

Figma is a webapp not a native app.

Figma has a Mac app which I use 95% of the time.

Would put money on it that the Figma Mac apps "insides" are just a web browser using Chromium or something...

Figma is a Electron App not a native Mac/Windows app. Just a wrapper around a web view.

In Figma there is nothing to be native macOS. It's web app/view like Slack, ... There is no native toolbar and chrome. They could change the whites with grey but that is all.

@bostjanvidovic I don't understand what's your point here? Technology under the hood is irrelevant to the end result for the user. If you're under the impression that Electron apps somehow don't have means to support Dark Mode, then that is not true. As linked in my previous comment app can get the environment OS variable on whether Dark Mode is on and proceed from there.

In fact there are multiple Electron apps with Dark Mode support already.

The point is in Figma there is nothing that is native macOS element, that's why Figma can't support macOS dark mode like Sketch 52, Safari, iTunes and other apps. Figma can implement a custom solution for the things that are today not dark and this is it.

A dark mode and a macOS Mojave native Dark mode are 2 different things.

The env variable Figma gets from OS, is, obviously, native. The support inside the app has to be built regardless of underlying technology. If your native app uses semantic colors some of the work will be done by the system, same for default views and controls. But all the custom views and controls will require additional set-up to work nicely with Dark Mode. In case of complex UIs you still have to do the work.

I suggest you read following: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/appkit/supporting_dark_mode_in_your_interface

Arguing about semantics that have no implication on the end result for the users shouldn't be the point of discussion.

One time more, Figma is not a native macOS app and doesn't use macOS components. Figma is a web app with a wrapper. What things in Figma do you wanna have in native Mojave Dark Mode?

Figma can change some styles and everything will be grey/dark.

This is getting ridiculous. I suggest we stop spamming this thread about much requested app feature with meaningless discussion which is primarily based on misunderstanding how the technology works.

What things in Figma do you wanna have in native Mojave Dark Mode?

I'm not sure you quite understand what 鈥渄ark mode鈥 is and how it works. See further.

Figma can change some styles and everything will be grey/dark.

So, exactly like apps made of 鈥渕acOS components鈥 (whatever that means), right? An Electron app, much like any other app can have multiple color schemes / modes / themes / whatever. Furthermore Electron has access to env state, so the appropriate theme can be turned on when the system has Dark Mode on.

Here's a nice write-up if you're genuinely interested in getting some answers: https://medium.com/missive-app/make-your-electron-app-dark-mode-compatible-c23dcfdd0dfa
