PDF Links with ugly borders, how to remove them ?

July 23, 2020 at 7:52pm
Hello, I'm new to figma and quite like it ! I'm using it to make my resume. The PDF export works fine, and I have been able to put hyperlinks on it (too bad links on images don't exist... would be a great feature). But when opening the PDF in acrobat, the hyperlinks have an ugly border around them, is there a way to remove them ? Thanks in advance for your help !

Hey , I make my resume in figma too. but haven't faced such a problem. Could you maybe share some screenshot of the problem
Hi , thank you for your answer ! Well I ended up making links in another application, as I had to implement links on images too and it was easier that way than putting a transparent textbox with a link over it anyway. Might it useful for anyone, talking about PDFS I used the "TinyImage Compressor" plugin that does a wonderfuljob on compressing size while retaining quality : https://www.figma.com/community/plugin/789009980664807964

Hey, I'm actually experiencing the same problem of ugly borders around hyperlinks. I think it might be an Acrobat Pro reader problem though. Can anyone help me? Thanks

I don't think it's an Acrobat Pro reader problem because I can reproduce it with xreader on Linux. :(
This is probably irrelevant but in LaTex, there's a similar problem where by default you have some boxes around links.
The Figma team probably just needs to change a setting in their export to PDF process
Edited
I'll file a bug report tomorrow
I tried using TinyImage Compressor but the exported PDF also has the same issue

Had the same issue when opening a PDF export with links in Adobe, no issue in preview.

Had the same issue. Looks like rectangles are shown when PDF is opened in Acrobat. Luckily, you can also fix it in Acrobat: click edit PDF, then select link > add/edit web or doc link. Double click the link that has a box around it and change the link type from "visible rectangle" to "invisible rectangle." Credit to this guide goes to Reddit user barry-bonanza
