Topic Tuesday: If you could go back in time to when you were just getting started in design, what's one bit of advice you'd tell yourself?
June 19, 2018 at 5:42pmWhat's that one thing that you've learned now, but wish you learned when you were first starting out?

Beginner:
1. Learn about Colors
2. Learn about Typography
3. Lean to draw vector shapes
4. Learn to create design system
5. Design something and quickly upload it on Dribbble or Behance
Pro:
1. Test your idea with real people ()
2. Fire shitty clients ()

Practice writing about/rationalizing your design; work on your ability to articulate your design decisions and become familiar with the language to use with designer/dev colleagues as well as how to translate the value of what you have done into language that makes sense to business people (non designer).
It's okay if some of your decisions were done because "it looked much better this way", and don't have some long winded reason. It may sound shallow but visual quality matters.
Be okay with working rough and fast (this one is still hard for me). Get used to showing rough work earlier in the process (the transparency of Figma has helped me become more comfortable with this).
