Cockpit + Gatsby + Netlify

, can I ask how you find working with Cockpit and Gatsby? Is it possible to re-order posts for example? I'm trying to decide which CMS I should use for my first site.

Wordpress + WooCommerce + Gatsby. I use gitlab task runner for syncing new versions and wordpress updates with a standart hosting

Collections can be setup for manual ordering (I'm using a manually ordered collection for my primary navigation), but my posts are not. Since Gatsby and GraphQL allow you to sort by any field in your query, I am sorting by a date field that each post contains.

Thanks for the reply. I went ahead and installed Cockpit this afternoon. Seems like a great little tool. Does a lot of stuff that WordPress does but without the plug-ins and complexity. It appears to be much more full featured than Netlify CMS. I'm going to use it for a Gatsby site.

I cannot figure out how to get a single entry through the API, do you know how? I couldn't find it on the documentation . This one doesn't work api/collections/get/posts/5c7bb0293466390010000275

I just updated a Strapi Gatsby tutorial blog post -, I updated it including a series on Youtube. I explain and show the basics of getting a Strapi/Gatsby stack working together.

We've decided that if the community asks and we get enough interest, I'll do a complete A to Z tutorial including deployment to various server solutions (Azure, DO or Linode, Heroku, etc).

what's the cost of maintaining self hosted strapi? The biggest hurdle for using it in our team for clients is the fact that one has to take care of it afterwards

Yes naturally, maintenance has to be weighed against the ability to bend Strapi to your will and customize nearly every facet of it and so on. We have workflows in place after handoff that make the time for maintenance a real non issue for most use cases - and it is getting easier as we approach Beta.

What do you think the cost of maintaining a self hosted Strapi project costs an organization? Versus let's a SaaS solution? I don't really mean in terms of dollars but in terms of activity or actions...

I would rate it as manageable. I haven't done a site with it in a year now, and I see that somethings have changed. So it could be getting better. That said there was a bit extra work i had to do to make it happy. I've been pushing clients towards the free tier of contentful as it's been working great. But a lot of clients still want to use wordpress.

I just found your comment about prismic on reddit, and it made me look at it - doesn't look bad at all! For $7 / month I get hosted headless CMS with quite powerful editing capabilities, 3 users (me + 2 client seats) and no hard limits on media storage / API requests / anything?

Gatsby and Prismic work well together, but i didn't find solution for prismic's preview..
