🙋🏽‍♀️ Help thread: Module 2 - Inclusive Communities

July 3, 2019 at 12:59pm
Module 2 is about understanding how your community can be more inclusive of marginalised groups.
This is a thread to ask questions around it. Please use the search before posting.

Hi everyone and thanks for this thread . Maybe you can explain the "Needs facilitated" and the "Needs not facilitated" questions in other words? It might be a language barrier from my side, but I don't get the question itself. Thank you very much!

Of course! These are all about the needs for marginalised groups and identifying concrete things you can do to make your community more accessible to them. For example your might be able to facilitate wheelchair users by ensuring that venues are accessible, but might not be able to facilitate the needs of people who need an translator do to lack of skills and funds.

Can i get some idea for the below question ??
What are some of the negative scenarios which might happen while running activities for your community which will make them less inclusive to marginalized groups? How will you avoid these scenarios?

July 21, 2019 at 2:36pm
What about it do you need help with?

July 22, 2019 at 6:42am
Lets say a negative scenario is some people needs translator in the events to understand deeply. To solve this we make sure the availability of a translator in every event. This how should i explain ??
That’s a really good example - yes. Make sure to focus on matters which affect marginalised groups, not just operational issues

Got the Idea, Thank You..!

If our code of conduct is not in english, should I translate it and include a link to the original page or is the link to the french version ok?

Hello , I was working on module 2 and I was unable to understand a point i.e. (Needs facilitated) can you give few examples for needs facilitated/not facilitated so that I can have a better understanding on it. Thank You :)

What we’d really like to see here are actionable things you’re doing to support people’s needs.
For example “we ensure every event is held in a wheelchair-accessible room”

hello in module 2 what basically it code of conduct sound ?

February 14, 2020 at 4:15pm
A code of conduct is a document that stablishes the behaviours amd rules that are allowed in a community or event. All good Code of Conducts should have the following clear sections:
  1. Expected behaviour (to reinforce)
  2. Unacceptable behaviour (to reduce ambiguity)
  3. How to report
  4. What will happen if people break it (to set expectations)

MLh code of conduct is great it have all most all the things, will it be ok if thats similar for my community because i think its like terms and condition or privacy policy can it be similar

February 18, 2020 at 1:17am
Just make it in a way that fits your community need and if you base it from other source remember to give credits to the original author.

February 19, 2020 at 10:49am
Hello , is it compulsory for me to create a code of documents that I'd then make available online? Or can I just pick a suitable code of conduct of some popular communities, and reference them (I.e give credit to them)?

February 21, 2020 at 4:38pm
You can take others but you MUST reference the authors.
