Models appear pixelated on Shopify storesNovember 19, 2020 at 6:14pm
Hello 👋 I've noticed that models loaded on Shopify stores look pixelated on my machine (Windows PC and Chrome version 87.0.4280.66). What's weird is that I've found some websites that also use model viewer but don't have this pixelated issue. I even went as far as dropping in the exact same model (Astronaut.glb) on both sites and found that one is pixelated and one isn't, even though I'm using the same machine and chrome version. Is there a difference between versions of model viewer? Why would some sites be pixelated and others not? Thank you so much for your help!
For context: This is an example of a model viewer that appears pixelated: https://www.switch3d.co/products/adidas-yeezy-boost-380-mist This is an example of a model viewer that does not appear pixelated: https://spase.io/

I'm not seeing this either, but I'd definitely like to get to the bottom of any bugs here. We dynamic render scaling which intentionally "pixelates" renders to keep the frame rate up (and this can be disabled, so the behavior can vary between sites). It should always be full resolution one it stops moving though. If you see otherwise, please file a bug with specific repro instructions.
This is what Astronaut.glb looks like on a Shopify store. Notice the pixelated hands.
This is what Astronaut.glb looks like on the Spase website. As you can see, it's much more clear.
I believe the pixelated effect is easier to see when you look at a high-res model. This is what the photogrammetry model looks like on my machine
