Static Assets and Media Production Issues w/ S3June 3, 2020 at 5:07am
I do have some static assets appearing, but I am not sure where to get the other static assets to put on S3. In addition, no thumbnails are showing up. See in the link below what it looks like. https://sad-mestorf-27b692.netlify.app/
I have set the following env variables on Heroku:
AWS_ACCESS_KEY_ID = ...
AWS_MEDIA_BUCKET_NAME = my-bucket
AWS_S3_REGION_NAME = us-east-1
AWS_SECRET_ACCESS_KEY = ...
AWS_STORAGE_BUCKET_NAME = my-bucket

Follow this guide if django-redis error shows on Heroku: https://spectrum.chat/thread/d08e9f33-c1ff-4392-8094-dcb05a4a65a4)https://spectrum.chat/saleor/general/thumbnails-not-created-in-saleor-2-10~d08e9f33-c1ff-4392-8094-dcb05a4a65a4)
After you put in those correct environment variables and Heroku builds you should see static files in your S3 bucket... Now run...
heroku run python manage.py populatedb
You will now see some new folders...Now run...
heroku run python manage.py create_thumbnails
Some may fail due to not actually being provided in the repo I think. Now make sure your folders are public and CORS is setup so the images can be fetched.
Hard Reload your storefront and BAM, images from S3.
I think once I get deployed and I am able to sell at least 1 product through my Saleor e-commerce store, I will feel qualified enough to submit documentation on deployment.
