Question about 8-pt grid detail

June 20, 2017 at 6:37pm
Hey Bryn, I've been borrowing a couple pieces of your explanations for the design system I'm working on for my job. One thing that keeps puzzling me is your bit about "By removing 7 of every 8 spacing options" What do you mean by that? — https://spec.fm/specifics/8-pt-grid
Thanks! Image

if every 1px increment is an option, you have 8x the possible options without an 8pt grid (12x for a 12pt grid, 4x for a 4pt grid, and so on)
so, an upside of using a system like this is that it *removes* options
there's less fiddling available to you, so you can stop spending time doing that faster
