I think it's tied to the current conversation you are in. If you happen to be in an active one it's popping with every message.

And no way of making it stop other than muting system notifications I think?

Interesting - it definitely shouldn't be showing notifs if the window is focused and you are viewing that convo

Correct - we have an open PR that's working on providing more granular push notification controls

For now though, yeah, you'll get a notification for everything that happens when the app is backgrounded :P (e.g. for new messages in threads where you're active)

Just add a checkmark to disable system notifications in notification settings. I'd love to see something slick like Slack. That's one of the things I really love about Slack is how it handles notification settings. You get snooze per channel, and all sorts of specific configurations.

We do have per-channel muting, per-thread muting, etc. - just not all accessible from one UI :P
