Desktop App Beta 2 is out

May 30, 2018 at 7:07pm
Note: we're still figuring out how our autoupdater will work - in the meantime, it appears that we don't have something configured quite right so if you want to get the latest version you'll need to re-install the desktop app manually from that link above.
Sorry for the hassle, but we'll get this figured out asap!

When I open the app it expands to fill my entire monitor. I would expect it to open with something reasonable and then save my window size on quit/re-open.

If you used the electron-boilerplate it's built into it. You just save the window-state and reload it on start.
Beautiful work! Love the new custom titlebar.
Or just save it yourself haha
I love it a lot. Other than notifications.
Yep, I think I may have overridden this default behavior :)
What's up with notifications?
I think it's tied to the current conversation you are in. If you happen to be in an active one it's popping with every message.
And no way of making it stop other than muting system notifications I think?
Interesting - it definitely shouldn't be showing notifs if the window is focused and you are viewing that convo
In fact, it shouldn't show any notifications if the app is focused
Are you just getting a lot of notifications when you background the app?
It's only for the conversation I'm in though. I believe.
Correct - we have an open PR that's working on providing more granular push notification controls
For now though, yeah, you'll get a notification for everything that happens when the app is backgrounded :P (e.g. for new messages in threads where you're active)
Just add a checkmark to disable system notifications in notification settings. I'd love to see something slick like Slack. That's one of the things I really love about Slack is how it handles notification settings. You get snooze per channel, and all sorts of specific configurations.
Alright I reset the data but now I see the gray mac bar. Is that normal?
Try doing a cmd-r
Whoa, definitely not - if you click 'About Spectrum' in the menu bar dropdown can you find the version you're running
Make sure you're on 1.0.0-beta2
We do have per-channel muting, per-thread muting, etc. - just not all accessible from one UI :P
