Desktop App: Beta testers

May 28, 2018 at 2:17pm (Edited 4 years ago)
We were getting ready to ship the desktop app for Spectrum, and we could use some beta testers! (push notifications 😍) Let us know below if you want to test it out and I'll get y'all a build very soon.

Oh hold on, it seems like this doesn't actually have push notifications yet
🤦‍♂️ I'm such a dummy
We gotta deploy a new version of the web client before push notifications will work
Removed the link to the build for now—will get the web client updated and then y'all can properly beta test hah
Will the desktop version be on the github repo as well?
Awesome, thanks!
, how can I download the desktop application?
It's not ready yet, I noticed the bug above! Will let you know once it's actually usable
Without a question, pls give.
I’d love to test the desktop app. Been waiting for the apps since a long time. Hopefully, soon we’ll get the mobile apps as well :)

Hi there. I DEFINITELY am interested in testing the Desktop App. I've been using computer conferencing systems and forums for online education for over 30 years. Spectrum seems to one of the first new system with fresh ideas. I like it so far. Btw, do you have any information on what tools are available and how to use them? I am stuck at the bottom of the totem pole since I can't find basic tools.
Hello , what do you mean by ‘what tools are available’?
Oops, well by tools I mean simple things like how to start a "conversation"; how to view membership of a conversation, are there usage stats that I can access to see how many participants, how many posts they have written in a conversation, how many they have read? How to delete a post? A conversation? Is there an email function? How can I import graphics? Just general basic stuff. I apologize if I have missed a manual to get started, but I jumped into the course. So I need the basics. (Also I would like to talk with the spectrum folks about educational applications of Spectrum. It is a neat forum.
Alejandro, what is Figma? Looking forward to learning all that I can about these systems.
Which course ? Not sure what you’re referring to.
OK, sorry. I'm exploring the Elements of AI course that is being run by the University of Helsinki, and that is how I encountered Spectrum. As I am new to the UofH course, I thought that you might be related to one another. Apparently not. But congratulations on the exposure that you are gaining by supporting the UofHelsinki course as the forum for peer discussion. My question #1 is whether Spectrum offers a manual or guide to the tools available and how to access them. Question #2 is to learn more about Spectrum and its potential as an environment to support student discussion and collaborative learning. Thank you, Linda
