Rust, weld, R and parallelismNovember 27, 2019 at 10:01am
I've watched the Weld-talk online, and I am partially hooked. Recently, I've spent a lot of time and effort into learning rust, and I am thus far impressed with it as a programming language, but I wish to understand the landscape of scientific computing a bit more.
What are the trade-offs between implementing pandas using weld, than say by rolling one's sleeves, and going for a pure rust implementation? Are there not parallelism tooling in rust enough to yield equal or even better performance?
